Radical Yiddish Folk Bard

Detroit-born, Hamburg-based bard Daniel Kahn blends Yiddish, English, and German with klezmer, punk, and folk. He has lead or co-created music projects like The Painted Bird, The Unternationale, The Brothers Nazaroff, Semer Ensemble, and his new trio album “UMRU / unrest”, with New York’s master violinist Jake Shulman-Ment & Berlin’s legendary multi-instrumentalis Christian Dawid on sax, clarinet and percussion. On stage, Kahn is known for roles in Fidler afn Dakh, Toyt fun a Seylsman, Unorthodox, and was featured in Carnegie Hall’s From Shtetl to Stage. A regular at Berlin’s Gorki and Hamburg’s Thalia theaters, he also co-founded the Shtetl Berlin festival. His Yiddish adaptations of Cohen, Dylan, and Guthrie have millions of views.
