Kensington’s Jewish Roots: A Guided Tour

Free Event

Kensington Market Historical Society presents a historic walking tour that dives deep into the early 20th-century wave of Eastern European Jewish immigration to Toronto. Participants will explore how these early residents transformed a Victorian residential neighbourhood into a bustling, open-air commercial hub. This immersive tour is an in-depth look into the architectural, religious, and socio-economic footprints of a community so tightly knit that Yiddish was the primary language spoken on every street corner, porch, and alleyway. Gather at the Baldwin and Augusta Stage by 12:55pm. The tour will be approximately 90 minutes and will take place rain or shine.
