Fenner, Brown & Wall / Dixie Chicken

Venue: Earl Bales Park

Category Music

Ashkenaz Festival & Magen Boys return to Earl Bales Park for the second of four Summer Jam FREE concerts series featuring eclectic double-bill concerts on alternating Monday evenings! Bring a blanket or lawnchair, a picnic and beverages and enjoy amazing music in an idyllic setting with friends and family.

Brown, Fenner & Wall
Chris Brown, Kate Fenner and David Wall grew up together, performing, recording and criss-crossing Canada as members of the much beloved R+B ensemble The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir. Since the band called it quits in the 90’s, the three musicians have continued their musical journeys in various ways; Kate and Chris have graced international stages as a duo, sharing the spotlight with luminaries such as Barenaked Ladies, B.B. King and the Tragically Hip. David has had a fruitful film scoring career and has explored Jewish music, touring with The Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band and other ensembles. Chris, Kate and David are excited to reunite for this special concert – it’ll be the first time they have shared the stage in 16 years!  They have promised to keep the tear-filled nostalgia to a minimum. They will be joined onstage by bassist Yoshi Maclear Wall, guitarist Neil Clark, and drummer Liam Cole.

Dixie Chicken
Dixie Chicken plays the music of legendary roots rockers “Little Feat,” one of the most criminally-underrated bands in rock history. Founded by the legendary slide guitarist and vocalist Lowell George, Little Feat combined California rock, funk, folk, jazz, country, rockabilly, and New Orleans swamp boogie into a rich gumbo that once discovered is impossibly infectious. Led by Juno-nominated John Fraser Findlay, Dixie Chicken features a a 7 piece all-star lineup of Toronto musicians who leave no detail behind in their ultra-faithful takes on Feat classics like “Fat Man in the Bathtub,” “Rock and Roll Doctor,” “Time Loves a Hero,” and of course,”Dixie Chicken.”
